Who taught, who worked the door: on record, for pay
If you pay teachers per class, you need to know who taught which class, and if you pay someone to run the door, the same for them. On paper that is a text thread, a diary and an argument in week three. ClassMetrix records who taught and who worked the desk on each class night, in a few seconds, and turns it into what each person is owed under your pay rule: a flat fee, a rate per head, a share of the door or a personal rate. When you pay them, you mark several classes paid at once, and the record stays. The same record is what makes each class's true cost, and so its profit, right.

Why this record matters
- Pay. "Did we pay Sam for the 14th?" should be a lookup, never a debate.
- Entitlements and records. Whatever else depends on who worked when (super, insurance, a dispute, your accountant's question in July) starts from the same record.
- The real cost of a class. A class with two teachers costs more than one with one. If nobody records it, the profit figure is a guess.
- Fairness. Cover teachers and volunteers get forgotten first.
How ClassMetrix does it
- Tap the usual teacher, or type a name. On the night, from the roll. The class's expected teachers are pre-filled, so most nights it is one tap to confirm.
- The door person too. If you pay someone to run the desk, record them the same way.
- Your pay rule, your rates. Flat per class, per head, a percentage of takings, or a rate per person. Worked out from what people actually paid, after passes and discounts.
- Pay day is a list. See what each person is owed and for which classes, pay them your usual way, then mark those classes paid in one go. ClassMetrix records the payment; it doesn't send the money.
- Estimates are labelled. If nobody was recorded for a night, the report estimates the pay and says so, and shows "Teachers 1 of 2" so you can fix it.
- Who changed what. A log of edits, so a corrected roll or a changed rate is never a mystery.
The same rule, two very different nights
| Pay rule | 19 people, $399 taken | 8 people, $168 taken |
|---|---|---|
| Flat $60 a class | $60 | $60 |
| $4 a head | $76 | $32 |
| 30% of the door | $120 | $50 |
Sample figures. Which rule you choose changes the cost of a thin night more than a full one; ClassMetrix applies the one you set and shows the result per class.

Questions
How do I record who taught a class?
Open the class night on the roll and tap the teacher's name, or type one. The class's usual teachers are suggested first. It takes a few seconds and can be done before, during or after the class.
Can I pay teachers different rates?
Yes. Set a studio rule (flat, per head, a share of takings) and override it per class or per person. The pay screen shows what each person is owed and why.
Does it pay them?
No. It tells you what is owed; you pay by bank transfer or cash as you do now, then mark the classes paid. The record of what was paid, when, stays in the app and can be exported.
What if someone forgot to record the teacher?
The night shows as "Teachers 1 of 2" and the class cost is estimated and labelled as an estimate until it is fixed. Nothing is silently wrong.
