Class passes that match the card in their hand

From ClassMetrix, check-in and money tracking for drop-in dance, yoga and fitness classes · 12 October 2026

The short answer

Passes are where drop-in classes lose money and goodwill: a card punched twice, a card lost with four classes on it, a couple sharing one card nobody can reconcile, and at the end of the year no idea how many prepaid classes you still owe. ClassMetrix keeps the pass on the phone as a punch card, one circle per class, so the screen matches what the student holds. The door taps the next circle; a couple can share a pass; a forgotten card becomes an IOU settled next visit; and the owner sees every pass balance and the total still owed, any time.

Where paper passes go wrong

How ClassMetrix runs passes

Moving from paper cards

Bring the students in by CSV or by QR code, then set each pass balance to match the card in the student's hand. From then on the phone is the card. Students who want to keep carrying paper can; the door just punches both.

What ClassMetrix doesn't do. ClassMetrix tracks passes; it doesn't sell them online or take the payment. Pass sales happen at the door, through your terminal or your tin, and the app records the sale and the balance.

Questions

Can two people share one class pass?

Yes. The door uses another student's pass from a list that shows the pass owner's own passes first, then those of people present tonight. Each use is recorded against the person who came.

What happens when someone forgets their pass card?

The door taps IOU. The class counts tonight, and the app prompts the door to take it off the pass next time that person is checked in. No cash is taken from someone who has already paid.

Can I set my own pass sizes and prices?

Yes. Any number of classes, any price, including a pass for a particular class only. Prices for passes and single classes are set by the owner, not fixed by the app.

How do I know how many classes I still owe?

The passes report shows every open pass and the total prepaid classes outstanding, because pass income is counted when the class is used, not when the card is sold.
