Punchpass alternatives
Punchpass (US$59 to $149 a month) is booking and payments for classes. The alternatives split by whether you still want bookings: Gymcatch (£10 a month plus VAT) and Vagaro (US$30) are cheaper booking tools, TeamUp, Momence and Mindbody are fuller suites, Gymdesk is for member gyms, and ClassMetrix (AU$29 or US$19) is the one without bookings, for doors where people turn up and pay, with profit per class after the hall and the teachers.
Seven alternatives
| What it is | Price | Fit for drop-in classes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Momence | An all-in-one studio platform: booking, memberships, payments, payroll reports, marketing, a student app. | No price on the site; quote from sales. | A full suite like Mindbody, with a different feel and no published price. |
| Gymdesk | Gym and martial-arts management priced by active members, with billing, booking and a website. | US$75 to $200 a month by members, plus per location. | Best for gyms with monthly members; less so for drop-in classes in hired halls. |
| TeamUp | Booking, memberships and payments for class-based businesses, priced by active customers. | US$189 a month for 101 to 200 active customers; the page shows no figure for under 100. | Strong on memberships and booking; the bill moves with a busy month. |
| Vagaro | Booking and point of sale for salons, spas and fitness, priced per bookable calendar. | US$30 a month for one calendar, plus US$10 per extra calendar. 30-day trial. | Cheap for one teacher with bookings; built around appointments. |
| Gymcatch | Simple booking and payments for independent fitness instructors (UK-based). | £10 a month plus VAT, add-ons £2 each; processing fees extra. One month free. | The cheapest booking tool here; UK-first. |
| A spreadsheet | Free and flexible; the record one careful person keeps. | Free. | Fine for one small class; fails at the door and when a second person runs it. See vs a spreadsheet. |
| ClassMetrix | Check-in and payment recording at the door for drop-in classes, with passes, teacher pay, cash tins and profit per class. No bookings, no payments. | AU$29, $69 or $129 a month (US$19, $49, $89), by classes a week. 30-day trial, no card. | The one on this list that doesn't book. For doors where people turn up and pay. |

Reasons to look elsewhere, and where to go
These are the reasons we hear from studio owners weighing their options, not quotes from Punchpass customers.
- You don't take bookings. Punchpass is built around reservations and online passes; a drop-in door uses a fraction of it. ClassMetrix is the no-bookings option.
- US$59 a month is a lot for one class a week. Gymcatch at £10 plus VAT, Vagaro at US$30, or ClassMetrix at AU$29 or US$19.
- You need memberships with contracts. Punchpass has memberships from Flow (US$99); TeamUp, Gymdesk, Momence and Mindbody go further.
- You want profit per class after the hall and the teachers. Punchpass reports revenue per class; we found nothing on its site about taking hall hire and teacher pay off it. That sum is ClassMetrix's reason to exist. Ask any vendor directly before assuming.
- Your students won't make accounts. ClassMetrix needs no student app or account; a QR code sign-up once, then the door taps their name.
The direct comparison with Punchpass is honest about what ClassMetrix leaves out: online booking, online pass sales, memberships, card payments and video.

Questions
What is a cheaper alternative to Punchpass?
Gymcatch (£10 a month plus VAT, UK-first) and Vagaro (US$30 for one calendar) if you still want bookings and payments. ClassMetrix (AU$29 or US$19 a month) if you don't: it records the door and shows profit per class, with no bookings and no card fees.
What is a Punchpass alternative without bookings?
ClassMetrix. It is for classes where people turn up and pay at the door: check-in in one tap, passes on screen, teacher pay, cash tins and profit per class after hall hire. It takes no payments and has no reservations, which is the point.
Which Punchpass alternative has memberships?
Punchpass itself from its Flow plan, and TeamUp, Gymdesk, Momence and Mindbody. ClassMetrix has passes only.
